Successful voting at Hapimag through digitization: new interface linking Hapimag’s client portal with NIMBUS ShApp.
A new interface connects Hapimag’s client portal directly with NIMBUS ShApp. Processes were digitized and optimized using Single-Sign-On. Learn more about this project!
Hapimag AG has more than 100.000 shareholders in 96 countries. Postal dispatching of invitations and responses related to the Annual General Meeting is time-consuming, expensive and not very sustainable. That’s why the leading European holiday home provider has joined forces with Nimbus to develop an interface aimed at facilitating digitization and optimization of various processes involved in the Annual Shareholders’ Meeting. As a result, NIMBUS ShApp is now directly connected to Hapimag’s client portal and needs no additional log-in.
From idea to interface
A partnership of many years and first steps toward digitization: Hapimag had been using the voting devices provided by Nimbus since 2007. In 2023, the Annual General Meeting approved a change to the Articles of Incorporation, allowing all shareholders to cast their votes digitally before the actual AGM. In 2025, the next logical step was to give Hapimag’s shareholders the option of choosing between receiving a digital or a postal invitation to the Annual Meeting.
Hapimag wanted all the processes involved in the AGM to be optimized and to run seamlessly. The clearly stated goal was to have an elegant, innovative solution that would make shareholders’ access to NIMBUS ShApp as easy as possible via Hapimag’s client portal. Philipp Ries, Chairman of the Board at Hapimag, says: “We wanted our shareholders to have the same options digitally as they have physically. The next logical step was to digitize the return process for the voting forms: this already worked just fine with NIMBUS ShApp. But in addition, we wanted our shareholders to access the platform without having to log in twice.”
Nimbus’ and Hapimag’s IT experts therefore sat down to work together. Their goal was to create a Single-Sign-On that would be accessible via the client portal, by implementing a sustainable interface technology based on technical standards that meets all relevant security requirements.
The development was completed just before the 2024 General Meeting took place. Daniel Stucki, who was Nimbus’ CTO at the time, emphasizes how successful the project was: “Our cooperation was based on partnership and great mutual trust. Pulling in the same direction with such a proficient IT team always has an inspiring effect and delivers excellent results.”
A hugely successful project
For the first time in 2024, shareholders who could not attend the Meeting physically now had the opportunity to cast their votes digitally before the event actually took place. The statistics speak for themselves: in 2024, more than half of the approximately 63.000 votes were sent in digitally. In 2025, digital voting already exceeded 90 percent of an estimated 59.000 votes (more than 54.000 votes).
Hapimag is highly satisfied with the new function and user acceptance. Markus Pally, head of the voting office at Hapimag, says: “We have taken another major step for our shareholders. Now we communicate by post with only 20 percent of them; all the others receive our information electronically. Developing the direct interface has more than proven itself, including financially: a significant reduction in postal transactions and less work hours for scanning and post-processing physical votes by Nimbus have led to considerable cost reductions.”
Everyone was thrilled about their cooperation on this project, both at Nimbus and at Hapimag. Markus Pally says: “Nimbus is always receptive to our needs and acts as a reliable partner at all times: in the run-up to the General Meeting, during the event and also for every technical request, such as our interface project.”
The project at a glance
- Digital voting exceeds 90% (2025) – from a total of 59.000 votes, more than 54.000 were cast digitally.
- Approximately 80% of shareholders receive information electronically.
- Reduced cost, less work: significant savings on postage, scanning, and post-processing.
- Seamless and secure: a direct access to NIMBUS ShApp from Hapimag’s client portal without the need of a second log-in.
What developments have enabled voting participation to increase through digitization?
Nimbus and Hapimag jointly developed and implemented a customized interface that links Hapimag’s client portal directly to the NIMBUS ShApp voting platform. Shareholders can use it to access digital voting without having to log in twice: an important step towards digitizing Hapimag’s Annual General Meeting.
How does the solution benefit shareholders?
Hapimag’s shareholders are regularly using the client portal, for example to register their vacations. The log-in procedure is well-known and present in their minds. That’s why Hapimag wanted them to be able to vote digitally directly on the NIMBUS ShApp voting platform without having to log in again. The solution was to jointly develop an interface that provides a quick and secure access to the platform.
Was it worthwhile to develop a special interface?
Hapimag has achieved significant cost reductions and increased its electronic communication ratio to approximately 80 percent of its shareholders. This next step towards digitizing the AGM helps to save on postage, printing, and post-processing costs. Moreover, it has enabled to significantly reduce administration work and the risk of processing errors.
